The Wild Boar is one of the Lake District’s finest and oldest Windermere hotels.

Set amongst the beauty of the ancient Gilpin Valley, it boasts an exceptional standard of service within exquisite traditional interiors and a warming, friendly atmosphere.

The hotel takes its namesake from the local legend of Sir Richard de Gilpin, who bravely fought and killed a particularly ferocious wild boar.

However, these days The Wild Boar hotel is known more for its warm welcomes, roaring log fires and seasonal food and drink from its Grill & Smokehouse open kitchen.
